With all the reports scattering about reporting about the problems with the iPhone’s touch screen developing dead spots, it raises a rather interesting question. Will these reported problems spell a long-term problem as far as tarnishing the iPhone’s image? There’s been many products that had developed a tarnished image in the beginning, and even though they were fixed, that stigma remained in the minds of many. Within Apple’s own plethora of products by the years, one can point to the PowerBook 5300 as one example. Dead batteries and poor engineering in general created a tarnished image for the 5300 that haunted it the whole way

down the line.

For those who haven’t kept up… The iPhone has reported problems with the touch screen. Due to repeated use, apparently the touch screen can develop dead spots. Due to the iPhone’s use of the touch screen to use it, that is a huge problem. Even whether the problem is recognized and fixed, the stigma could stay with it due to the intense hype which surrounded the iPhone when it was released.

What do you think? Will the iPhone’s image become tarnished or will it rise above?
