You can almost edit your office documents on your iPhone with QuickOffice

During the CTIA Fall Trade show last week, many got the chance to have a quick look at the current state of the application called QuickOffice. This is one of the two suites that is compatible with Microsoft Office that is currently being developed for Apple Inc.’s iPhone. As of the moment, the QuickOffice is not yet ready but it may now edit the documents in Microsoft Excel. However, the QuickOffice can only read documents in Microsoft Word.

Quickoffice on the iPhone

Probably the biggest challenge for the QuickOffice is dealing with the file system issues of the iPhone. Each and every iPhone app uses a unique file storage space and these applications can’t access the other’s space. Therefore, users won’t be able to save an attachment coming from the Safari browser to a folder in the device so that it can be edited later using the QuickOffice.

Knowing this, QuickOffice is trying to have a solution called QuickAccess, an extra application that might be the solution to the said file system issue. The QuickAccess allow the users to download the documents from Google Doc, Mobile, and other shared folders online so that it can be accessed by the QuickOffice. The QuickAccess will also let the users reupload the edited documents to the shared Web folders afterwards.
