Google map doesn’t charge pay per use. It uses data from data package which every smart phone (iphone, droid, winmo…) require to have.

It makes sense for ads to appear on the iPhone, and is to be expected especially as more people get iPhones as more companies get the rights (in the UK anyway). Its most likely the future of advertising.

If this happens, that App won’t stay on my iphone for long at all. If I get an app that is free, then I can understand being bombarded with ads. But if I pay for an app and it wants to lay commercials, then it will be deleted. Guess this will be a new location on the forums for listing apps with commercials.
This is a bad idea…

Do not compare iPhone’s TomTom app with Droid’s Google Maps navigation tool. IPhone’s TomTom doesn’t need internet to use (All purchased maps are inbuilt), but every time you use Google maps you will get charged by your service provider.
